Who we are and what we do

## Your electrician in Dubrovnik, from the distribution board to the facade

Electro Access is an electrician in Dubrovnik for homes, holiday rentals, bars, restaurants and offices: power installations and distribution boards, fault finding and repairs, network and TV cabling, CCTV, keyless access control, and facade and roof work by rope access. Describe the job by message, phone or the quote form and you receive a written quote.

*Image: Distribution board with every circuit labelled, installed in Dubrovnik — Distribution board with labelled circuits*

Electro Access is based in Nova Mokošica, in the north-west of the city, and works across the city, inside the Old Town walls included. If you are talking to a neighbour or a building manager, the Croatian word for an electrician is električar, and a search in Croatian would be for električar Dubrovnik.

The work is the same whether the property is your home, a holiday rental you manage from abroad, or a bar or restaurant that cannot afford a dead circuit at the height of the season. It falls into six lines: [power installations](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#power-installations), [fault finding and repairs](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#fault-finding), [network, Wi-Fi and TV cabling](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#data-networks), [CCTV](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#cctv), [access control](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#access-control) and [rope-access work at height](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#rope-access).

The scope and the price are agreed in writing before work starts, and every board, cable and circuit we leave behind is labelled, so the next person who opens the cabinet, including you, can read it. How a job runs from the first message to the handover is described under [how it works](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#how-it-works), the districts we cover under [where we work](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#areas), and common questions are answered in the [FAQ](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#faq).

Six lines of work

## What does an electrician in Dubrovnik do for you?

Six lines of work cover most of what a building needs: power installations and distribution boards, fault finding and repairs, structured network and TV cabling, CCTV, access control, and work at height by rope access. Each is described below with what it includes, and one quote can combine several of them for the same property.

- [Power installations Distribution boards, circuits, sockets and lighting](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#power-installations)
- [Fault finding and repair Diagnosis by measurement, repairs and rewiring](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#fault-finding)
- [Data, network and TV cabling Structured cabling, racks, Wi-Fi and SAT/TV](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#data-networks)
- [CCTV Cameras, recording and remote viewing](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#cctv)
- [Access control Keyless entry by card, code or phone](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#access-control)
- [Rope access and work at height Facades, roofs and hard-to-reach places without scaffolding](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#rope-access)

One contractor for the whole property, from a flat or a house to a venue or a building in the Old Town, saves you the coordination. The same team routes the power circuits and the network cabling, fits the cameras and the card readers, and knows where every cable runs when something needs changing later. Power work (elektroinstalacije jake struje) and low-voltage work (elektroinstalacije slabe struje) can share the same visit and the same cable routes.

A bar or restaurant may need a new main distribution board, a network cabinet behind the bar, cameras at the entrance and a reader on the staff door. A flat renovated for holiday letting may need a new board with residual current devices, cabled Wi-Fi and keyless entry. Either can be one quote, and rope access takes the same work onto facades and roofs that scaffolding cannot reach.

### Power installations and distribution boards

Power installations carry mains electricity through a building: the distribution board with its circuit breakers, the cables in the walls, the sockets, switches and lighting. We build and label boards, wire new and renovated flats, houses and venues, add residual current devices and surge protection, and fit main switches and busbars where a venue needs a higher-power connection.

*Image: Home distribution board with residual current devices and surge protection — Home distribution board with RCDs and surge protection*

An installation is only as good as its distribution board (razvodni ormar). That is why every board we build is laid out so it can be read at a glance, with a label on every circuit. Power installations are needed when a flat, house or venue is built or renovated, and when the existing installation no longer matches the load, for example after new air-conditioning units or a professional kitchen.

- **Distribution boards**: building and installing the home’s board (the consumer unit) and the main distribution board of a building, with a label for every circuit.
- **New installations and renovations**: lighting, sockets, appliance connections and air-conditioning supplies in new builds and in renovations of flats, houses and commercial premises.
- **Protection**: residual current devices (RCDs) and surge protection, to protect people, appliances and the building itself.
- **Higher power**: main switches, busbars and higher-power connections for bars, restaurants and other commercial premises.

If the property needs more power than its connection allows, the connection itself belongs to [HEP ODS](https://www.hep.hr/ods/), the electricity distribution operator, whose Dubrovnik unit is Elektrojug. The owner of the property, or someone with the owner’s power of attorney, asks HEP ODS for the increase (povećanje priključne snage). We prepare the installation and the main board on your side of the meter, so that the extra power can be used safely.

Replacing only the board is possible: the old board is replaced with a new one, the existing circuits are checked and the right protection is fitted. If the check shows that the installation itself is worn out, we propose rewiring it as well. Boards, main switches and busbars from our jobs are under [from the field](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#photos), and [how we price](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#pricing) explains what a quote contains.

### Fault finding and electrical repairs

When a circuit breaker keeps tripping, part of the property has no power, a light flickers or a socket gets warm, we find the cause. Measurements show where the fault is, and we repair the cause itself. Fault calls are taken in working hours (07:00–16:00); on the call we tell you when we can come.

*Image: Distribution board under test with a multimeter at its base — Board under test, multimeter at its base*

The aim is not only to get the power back but to remove the cause, so that the same fault does not happen again.

- **Testing and diagnosis**: instrument readings on the installation and on each circuit to find the real cause of the fault, not the first suspect.
- **Repair**: faults on installations, distribution boards, sockets, switches and lighting.
- **Rewiring**: when an installation is worn out, we propose and carry out partial or full rewiring, as we did on one of our reference venues.
- **Cable routes**: tidying cable routes, trays and junction boxes so that the installation is clear and safe.

Some faults announce themselves in advance. If you notice any of the following, get in touch before the problem becomes serious:

- circuit breakers or residual current devices that trip often;
- sockets, switches or plugs that get warm;
- lighting that flickers or dims when a large appliance starts;
- scorch marks on sockets or inside the board;
- an old installation with no residual current device (RCD) at all.

If you smell burning or see sparking, switch off the main switch first. Electro Access takes urgent call-outs for electrical faults: call +385 95 506 8145, and you are told on the call when the electrician can come.

Tell us what happens, where and since when, and send a photo of the board if you can: the description and the photo help with the diagnosis and with the quote. If the property is let, say so in the message and give the times when it is free. See [how a job runs](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#how-it-works) and [how we price](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#pricing), or describe the fault on the [quote form](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/quote/).

### Network cabling, racks, Wi-Fi and satellite TV

Low-voltage installations carry data and signal rather than mains power: network cables and sockets for the internet, Wi-Fi access points, and television and satellite reception. A properly cabled network, labelled at both ends, gives stable internet and television in every room, which you notice most in a thick-walled stone house where Wi-Fi alone struggles.

*Image: Structured cabling in an open network rack — Structured cabling in an open network rack*

Every cable has its place and its label, at the socket and in the cabinet. That is what keeps a network easy to maintain years later, when a new television arrives or an access point needs moving.

- **Structured cabling**: network cables from the rack to every socket, labelled at both ends.
- **Network racks and patch panels**: tidy cabinets with patch panels, switches and cable management.
- **Wi-Fi and network equipment**: installing and connecting network equipment and access points so that the whole building is covered.
- **Satellite and TV distribution**: aerial and satellite distribution with a multiswitch for several receivers in one building.

Cabling can usually be added to an existing building. Routes are adapted to the property, and in old stone houses the route is agreed room by room according to what the walls and floors allow and how the result should look. For a holiday rental, a cabled access point on each floor does more than one router trying to cover the whole house, and a labelled rack means that you, or the next technician, can trace any line without guesswork.

Cameras and card readers run over the same cabling, so [CCTV](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#cctv) and [access control](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#access-control) are best planned together with the network. Ask for all three in one [quote](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/quote/) and the cable routes are planned once.

### CCTV for homes, rentals and venues

A CCTV system records the entrance, the yard, the venue or the building and stores the footage on a recorder on site. You can watch live and review recordings on your phone wherever you are. We install indoor and outdoor IP cameras, recorders and network storage, protected remote access and a UPS that covers short power cuts.

*Image: Cabinet with CCTV recorder, network storage and UPS — CCTV recorder, network storage and UPS in one cabinet*

Cameras are positioned according to what the property actually needs, and the recorder and its storage are sized for the retention period you want.

- **Cameras**: indoor and outdoor IP cameras for entrances, yards, shops and commercial premises.
- **Recording and storage**: network video recorders (NVR) and network storage (NAS) that keep the footage available when it is needed.
- **Remote viewing**: live view and playback in a mobile app, with protected access.
- **Backup power**: a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) keeps the system running through a short power cut.

Video surveillance is regulated, and we plan with the rules in mind. Cameras are positioned to record the space you are protecting: the surveillance must be clearly signed, and cameras must not record public space or a neighbour’s property. Under [Croatian data-protection law](https://azop.hr/) the sign must be visible at the latest when a person enters the recorded area, and it must say that the area is under video surveillance and give the controller’s details and a contact. Recordings may be kept for at most six months unless another law or a legal proceeding requires longer, and in a residential building the co-owners holding at least two-thirds of the ownership shares must agree before cameras go up. A camera with an adjustable field of view is positioned, or masked in software, so that in no direction does it take in the street or the neighbours.

At a holiday rental, the cameras cover your own entrance and yard, not the street. In a bar, restaurant or office, staff work in view of the cameras, so the law also requires them to be told in advance. Cameras, the recorder and the [access control](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#access-control) readers share the same [network cabling](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#data-networks), so the three are planned together and quoted together.

### Keyless entry and access control

Access control replaces the key with a card, a code or a phone. A lost card is cancelled in the system instead of changing the lock, and the entry log shows who came in and when. We fit card readers and keypads, electric strikes and locks, set each user's doors and times, and link the system with CCTV.

The system is tailored to the building, from a single entrance door to several entrances, offices and plant rooms.

- **Readers and keypads**: card readers and keypads for entry by card or code, for indoor and outdoor mounting.
- **Electric strikes and locks**: electric strikes and electronic locks on entrance doors, offices and plant rooms.
- **User management**: a lost card is cancelled in the system, with no lock to replace, and each user is given the doors and the hours they may use.
- **Logs and integration**: a record of entries by user and time, and a link with the CCTV system.

For a holiday rental, depending on the system, guests receive a card or a code that works only for the dates of their stay, so there is no handing over and returning of keys, and the entry log shows when each card or code was used. For an office or an apartment building, each person opens only the doors they are allowed to use, at the times set for them, and a card that is lost or not returned is simply cancelled.

What a door does in a power cut is decided when the system is planned: whether it stays locked or unlocks depends on the purpose of the door and the safety requirements of the building, and the system can be built with backup power. Readers, strikes and the controller run on the same cabling as the [cameras](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#cctv) and the [network](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#data-networks), so ask for them in one [quote](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/quote/).

### Work at height by rope access

On facades, roofs and hard-to-reach places we work suspended on ropes, with protective equipment and without erecting scaffolding, so jobs can be done even in the narrowest streets of the Old Town. Rope access is done with two independent rope systems, a working line and a safety line, so that one line always secures the other.

*Image: Rope access above the rooftops of Dubrovnik Old Town — Rope access above the Old Town rooftops*

Rope access joins two trades: electrical installation and safe access to places that are hard to reach. A light or a camera mounted from the rope is also connected to the installation by the same team.

- **Lighting and equipment on facades**: mounting and connecting facade lighting, cameras and other equipment in demanding positions.
- **Cable routes on facades**: running cables neatly along a facade, with respect for the appearance of the building.
- **Roof work**: electrical work on roofs and roof structures.
- **Hard-to-reach places**: inner courtyards, light-wells and narrow streets that scaffolding or an access platform cannot enter.

Putting up scaffolding in a narrow street of the Old Town takes time, needs a permit for occupying public space and closes the passage for everyone. Rope access lets the same job be done faster and without taking over the street, and it reaches inner courtyards and light-wells where scaffolding cannot be set up at all.

Whether a facade job needs a permit depends on the type of work and the location. For a building in the protected historic core, the City’s rules require the prior approval of the conservation department for any work on the exterior; work on the common parts of any building also needs the consent of the co-owners or the building manager. Mention the building and the work in your first message, so that any approval can be planned into the job. More on working inside the walls is under [the Old Town](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#old-town), and rope photos from our jobs are under [from the field](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#photos).

Inside the walls

## Electrical work inside the Old Town

Work in the stone buildings and narrow streets of the Old Town needs its own approach and care for the building. Cable routes are agreed with the building in mind, facades and roofs are reached from ropes instead of scaffolding, and any approval the job needs, from the conservation department or the co-owners, is planned in from the start.

*Image: Technician on a rope seen from a narrow Old Town street — Rope access seen from a narrow Old Town street*

The Old Town is the protected historic core of the city, inscribed on the [UNESCO World Heritage List](https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/95/) in 1979. Its houses have thick stone walls, and a palace facade cannot be treated like the front of a new block. We have worked for bars and restaurants in the Old Town, and the rope photos under [from the field](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#photos) were taken above its rooftops and in its streets.

### Before work starts inside the walls

- **Approvals**: exterior work on a building in the protected core needs the prior approval of the conservation department (the Ministry of Culture and Media’s office in the city); work on the common parts of a building needs the consent of the co-owners or the building manager.
- **Summer pause**: facade and exterior works in the core, scaffolding included, are not allowed from 15 June to 15 September.
- **Access**: the Old Town is a pedestrian zone, so tools and materials are carried in.
- **No scaffolding in the street**: [rope access](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#rope-access) needs no scaffold and no scaffold lease, and keeps the passage open; any other use of the street, such as storing material, needs the City’s approval and is checked for each job.

Tell us the street, the building and whether the work is inside or on the facade.

Service area

## Where we work, from the Old Town to Mokošica

We work across the City of Dubrovnik: the Old Town, Pile and Ploče, Lapad and Babin Kuk, Gruž, Montovjerna, Mokošica and Nova Mokošica, and Rijeka dubrovačka. Župa dubrovačka, Cavtat and Konavle, and the Elaphiti islands are covered on request: tell us where the property is, and we agree whether and when we can come.

In the city

- **Old Town** The walled historic core: stone buildings and narrow streets, exterior work only with conservation approval, facades and roofs by rope access.
- **Pile** Just outside the walls, inside the World Heritage area since 1994.
- **Ploče** Outside the walls, in the World Heritage buffer zone as enlarged in 2018.
- **Lapad** Flats, houses and holiday rentals.
- **Babin Kuk** Flats, houses and holiday rentals.
- **Gruž** The port district, where the ferries to the Elaphiti islands leave; in the World Heritage buffer zone.
- **Montovjerna** Flats and houses.
- **Mokošica and Nova Mokošica** Where the office is: a district of around 8,000 people, linked to the city by the Franjo Tuđman Bridge.
- **Rijeka dubrovačka** The villages along the inlet, such as Komolac, Rožat and Sustjepan.

Outside the city, on request

- **Župa dubrovačka**
- **Cavtat and Konavle**
- **Elaphiti islands**

The base is in Nova Mokošica, in the north-west of the city, not in the Old Town. Meetings and site visits are arranged by message or phone, and the work itself happens at your property: a flat, a house, a venue or a whole building.

Further out, in Župa dubrovačka, Cavtat and Konavle or on the islands, each job is agreed case by case, depending on the work and the travel it needs. For the Elaphiti islands, say which island and where the property is, so that the visit can be planned around the boat.

Name the district, or better the street, in your first message. For a building inside the walls, [the Old Town](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#old-town) explains what changes there.

Five steps

## How a job runs, from message to handover

A job runs in five steps. You get in touch with a short description and the location, we look at the property where needed, and you receive a written quote based on the real scope. The work is then carried out with labelled circuits and cables, and at the handover we explain what was done and how to use it.

1. **Get in touch.** Write on WhatsApp or call +385 95 506 8145 with a short description of the job and where the property is, or use the [quote form](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/quote/).
2. **Site visit.** Where needed, we come to see the property and agree the details of the work.
3. **Written quote.** The quote is based on the real scope of the work and lists the labour and the materials.
4. **The work.** Carried out tidily, with every circuit and cable labelled.
5. **Handover.** We explain what was done and how to use the system.

### What to put in your first message

- **What needs doing**: for example a new distribution board, a fault, a new installation, cameras or work on a facade.
- **Where the property is**: the address or the district, and whether it is a flat, a house, a venue or a building in the Old Town.
- **A photo, if you have one**: a picture of the board, the fault or the place of work makes the quote easier.

We reply on the same working day for messages received before 16:00, and a message can be sent at any time.

Quotes in writing

## How we price electrical work

Every job is quoted in writing after a description or a site visit, because every space and every installation is different. The quote lists the labour and the materials for the work you asked for, and the work starts once you accept it. We do not publish a price list, and the payment terms are stated on the quote.

Prices follow the scope of the work. Two jobs that sound alike, such as replacing the distribution board in two flats, can differ a great deal once the state of the circuits behind each board is known, which is why the quote comes after the description or the visit rather than before it.

- **What the quote covers**: the work to be done and where, with the labour and the materials listed.
- **How long it takes**: after a site visit, you receive an estimate of the duration together with the quote.
- **What shapes the scope**: the size of the space, the state of the walls and of the existing installation, and what you want added.
- **How you pay**: the payment terms are stated on the quote.

A quote comes back sooner when the first message says what needs doing and where the property is, with a photo of the board or the place of work. [How a job runs](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#how-it-works) lists what to include; the [quote form](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/quote/) asks for the description and the location, and photos can follow on WhatsApp.

Planning the job

## When to book electrical work

Book planned work as early as you can: renovations and new installations in rentals and venues are easiest before the season, while the property is empty. Faults do not wait for the calendar, so report them when they appear, and plan facade work in the Old Town for spring or autumn, outside the summer pause on exterior works.

The year in the city has a rhythm, and electrical work goes more smoothly when it follows it.

- **Before the season**: holiday rentals, bars and restaurants are easiest to work on while they are closed or empty, so a new board, new cabling or keyless entry is best planned for the months before the first guests.
- **In the summer heat**: air-conditioning running in every room puts the most load on an installation, and that is when an overloaded circuit or a tired board shows itself. If a breaker trips more often in summer, see [fault finding](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#fault-finding).
- **Storm season**: thunderstorms are most frequent in autumn, according to the climate records of [DHMZ, the Croatian weather service](https://meteo.hr/), so late summer is a good moment to have the surge protection on the board checked.
- **In winter**: many rentals and venues are closed, which leaves room for larger jobs such as rewiring.
- **Facades in the Old Town**: exterior works in the historic core pause in high summer; [the Old Town](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#old-town) gives the dates.

The earlier you describe the job, the easier it is to fit the visit and the work around your guests or your opening hours.

Where we have worked

## Reference venues

Our references include bars and restaurants in the Old Town, and among the jobs is the rewiring of an older installation. Each venue is named on this page only once it has agreed to be, with one line on the work done there; until then, the photos from the field show the work itself.

A labelled board, tidy cable routes and a handover that explains what was done are the same on every job, large or small. Photos from our jobs are under [from the field](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#photos), and what clients write in their own words is on Google, linked from [reviews](https://electroaccessdubrovnik.com/#reviews).

About us

## Who you are dealing with

Electro Access started in Dubrovnik in 2024 and is based in Nova Mokošica, in the north-west of the city. It offers power and low-voltage installations, urgent call-outs for electrical faults and rope-access work at height, plus fault finding, CCTV and access control. Use the details below for quotes, site visits and anything else about a job.

*Image: Two-part image: a technician drilling on a tiled roof among cypress trees, and a finished room with ring lights — Roof work, and a finished interior*

The name is no accident: besides standard electrical installation, the team works by rope access, so jobs can be done where scaffolding or a platform cannot reach. The team’s background is in electrical installation across homes, venues and offices in the city. Four things hold for every job, whatever its size:

- **Tidy and labelled**: boards, cables and circuits are labelled, which makes maintenance and every later job easier.

Questions and answers

## Frequently asked questions

Short answers to common questions about electrical work in the city: power and low-voltage installations, distribution boards, faults and tripping RCDs, network cabling, cameras and recordings, keyless entry, rope access and facade permits, the HEP connection, quotes and prices, the area we cover and our working hours. Open a question to read its answer.

### Do you do both power and low-voltage work?

Yes. We carry out power installations (elektroinstalacije jake struje) as well as network, Wi-Fi and satellite TV cabling, CCTV and access control, the low-voltage side (elektroinstalacije slabe struje), so one contractor can handle the whole building. Power and low-voltage cables can share the same routes, which is why it helps to plan them together: describe everything the property needs in one message and you receive one quote.

### Do you work for bars, restaurants and other businesses?

Yes. Besides flats and houses, we carry out installations for bars, restaurants and commercial premises, including bars and restaurants in the Old Town. A venue can combine several lines of work in one job: a main distribution board with the power the kitchen and the air-conditioning need, network cabling, cameras and access control on staff doors. Ask for them together and they are quoted together.

### Can only the distribution board be replaced?

Yes. The old distribution board is replaced with a new one, the existing circuits are checked and the right protection is fitted, including residual current devices. If the check shows that the installation itself is worn out, we tell you and propose rewiring it as well, so that you can decide with the full picture. Every circuit on the new board is labelled.

### Why rope access instead of scaffolding?

Because no scaffolding or access platform has to be put up. In the narrow streets of the Old Town, scaffolding takes time, needs a permit to occupy the public space and closes the passage for everyone. From ropes, the same work can be done in streets, inner courtyards and light-wells where scaffolding cannot reach, and the street stays open.

### How long does an electrical installation in a flat take?

It depends on the size of the flat, the state of the walls and the scope of the work, so there is no single answer. After a site visit you receive an estimate of the duration together with the written quote. If the flat is let, tell us the dates when it is free, so that the estimate can take them into account.

### Why does my RCD keep tripping?

A residual current device (zaštitna strujna sklopka, or FID, in Croatian) switches off when it detects current leaking away, most often because of a faulty appliance, damp in the installation or damaged insulation. The cause is found by measurement, checking the circuits and the appliances one by one. Do not force it back on or bypass it: it is there to protect people from electric shock.

### Is it better to repair or replace an old installation?

It depends on the condition of the installation. A single fault on an installation that is otherwise sound is worth repairing. An old installation that is worn out and has no residual current device is safer to rewire, partly or fully, and in the long run that is also the better investment. Measurements on the circuits show which case you are in.

### Why a cabled network and not just Wi-Fi?

A cabled connection is more stable and faster than a wireless one. Access points connected by cable also give better Wi-Fi coverage than a single router trying to cover the whole building, which matters in houses with thick stone walls. A television, a camera recorder or a work computer can use a network socket, leaving the Wi-Fi for phones and laptops.

### Can cabling be added to an existing building?

As a rule, yes. The cable routes are adapted to the building, and in old stone buildings the route is agreed according to what the walls, floors and ceilings allow and how the result should look. Every cable is labelled at both ends, at the socket and in the network cabinet, so the network stays easy to trace and extend later.

### Can I watch the cameras on my phone?

Yes. Current CCTV systems let you watch live and play back recordings in a mobile app, wherever you are, with access protected by a password. Access to the footage should stay with the people who need it: Croatian rules require the system to be protected from unauthorised access and to keep a log of who viewed the recordings and when.

### How long are recordings kept?

That depends on the storage capacity, the number of cameras and the recording quality, and the system is sized for the retention period you need. Croatian law sets a ceiling: recordings may be kept for at most six months, unless another law requires longer or they are evidence in proceedings. The data protection agency, AZOP, advises a shorter period wherever the purpose allows.

### What happens to an access-controlled door in a power cut?

The system can be built with backup power, so that it keeps working through a power cut. Whether a door stays locked or unlocks when the power goes is decided when the system is planned, according to what the door is for and the safety requirements of the building: a door on an escape route is not treated like the door of a storeroom.

### Is access control suitable for rental apartments?

Yes. Depending on the system, each guest receives a card or a code that works only for the dates of their stay, so there is no handing over and returning of keys, and no lock to change when a key goes missing. The entry log shows when each card or code was used, and the system can be linked with a camera at the entrance.

### Can one card open several doors?

Yes. For each user the system sets which doors they may open and at what times, so one card or code can open the building entrance, a flat and a storeroom, while another opens only the entrance. A card that is lost or not returned is cancelled in the system, and every other card keeps working.

### Is rope access safe?

Rope access is done with two independent rope systems, a working line and a safety line, and with equipment for work at height, so that one line always secures the other. Croatian occupational-safety rules allow rope access where a risk assessment shows the work can be done safely, and they require the same principle: at least two ropes, a working rope and a safety rope.

### Do facade works need permits?

It depends on the type of work and the location. For a building in the protected historic core, the City's rules require the prior approval of the conservation department for any work on the exterior, and facade works there are not allowed from 15 June to 15 September. Work on the common parts of any building also needs the consent of the co-owners or the building manager.

### How do I get a quote?

Send a WhatsApp message or call +385 95 506 8145 with a short description of the job and where the property is, or use the quote form on this site. A photo of the board, the fault or the place of work helps. Where needed, we come to see the property, and then you receive the quote in writing.

### What does the work cost?

Prices follow the scope of the work, because every space and every installation is different, so we do not publish a price list. After a description of the job or a site visit you receive a written quote that lists the labour and the materials, and the payment terms are stated on the quote.

### Which area do you cover?

We work across the City of Dubrovnik, from the Old Town, Pile and Ploče to Lapad, Babin Kuk, Gruž, Montovjerna, Mokošica and Rijeka dubrovačka, in flats, houses, venues and offices, the buildings inside the Old Town walls included. For Župa dubrovačka, Cavtat and Konavle or the Elaphiti islands, get in touch and we agree whether and when we can come.

### What are your hours?

Our working hours are 07:00–16:00. A WhatsApp message or an email can be sent at any time, and we reply in working hours. Fault calls are taken in the same hours, and on the call we tell you when we can come. Site visits and meetings are arranged by message or phone.

### How do I increase the power of my HEP connection?

The connection belongs to HEP ODS, the electricity distribution operator, whose Dubrovnik unit is Elektrojug. The owner of the property, or someone with the owner's power of attorney, asks HEP ODS for an electricity consent (EES) for the higher power, preferably online through its Moja mreža application. If the installation is altered for the new power, a certificate that it is fit for use (potvrda o uporabljivosti) goes with the request. We prepare the installation and the board on your side of the meter.

### Does a new installation need a test record?

Yes. Croatian technical rules make a final inspection and test of every new electrical installation compulsory, carried out with measuring instruments, and a record of it (zapisnik) must be kept; the building owner keeps the inspection documents permanently. HEP ODS also asks for a certificate that the installation is fit for use (potvrda o uporabljivosti) when a new connection is made. Ask about these documents when you request the quote.

### Is it a power cut or a fault in my installation?

If the neighbours have no power either, or the street lights are out after dark, it is a power cut on the distribution network, which HEP ODS (Elektrojug in Dubrovnik) is responsible for; planned interruptions are announced in advance on its Bez struje (No power) page, by street and time. If only your property is off, check the main switch and the residual current devices (RCDs) on your board, and if the power does not come back, call +385 95 506 8145.

### Do you take urgent call-outs for electrical faults?

Yes. For an urgent electrical fault, call +385 95 506 8145. Fault calls are taken in working hours, 07:00–16:00, Monday to Friday, and you are told on the call when the electrician can come: it depends on the jobs already booked and on where the property is. A clear description, and a photo of the board if you can take one, helps to judge how urgent it is. If you smell burning or see sparking, switch off the main switch first.
